How Our Horoscopes Are Made

Every horoscope on Horoscope-US starts from the real sky. Before a single word is written, we calculate where the Sun, the Moon and the planets actually are, which aspects they form and which events happen that day. The text is then written from those facts only, under rules set and regularly audited by our editorial team. This page explains the method step by step, so you know exactly what you are reading.

1. Planetary positions computed from astronomical ephemerides

We do not copy positions from another website. Horoscope-US computes its own ephemerides with Astronomy Engine, an open-source astronomy library used for precise planetary calculations. The data currently covers the years 2026 to 2035.

  • Daily positions of the Sun, the Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are calculated for every day at 12:00 UTC.
  • Events are timed to the minute: New and Full Moons, eclipses, a planet entering a new sign, retrograde and direct stations, and exact aspects (conjunction, sextile, square, trine, opposition).
  • Times are shown in Eastern Time (ET), the reference time zone of the site.
  • We use the tropical zodiac, the standard system of Western astrology, where 0° Aries starts at the March equinox.

2. Solar houses: what the sky means for your sign

A personal birth chart needs your exact birth time and place. A horoscope written for a whole sign cannot, so we use solar houses (also called the “Sun sign” or whole-sign method): your sign is your 1st house, the next sign is your 2nd house, and so on around the zodiac. For Aries, for example, the Moon in Scorpio falls in the 8th house; for Taurus, the same Moon falls in the 7th house.

Each house is linked to an area of life (self, money, communication, home, creativity, health and work, partnerships, shared resources, travel and learning, career, friends, inner life). This is why the same sky gives a different reading for each of the twelve signs. If you know your rising sign, reading the horoscope for that sign often matches the house timing even more closely.

3. Writing from the facts, not from imagination

Our texts are drafted with the help of artificial intelligence, and we want to be transparent about it. The AI does not “invent” a horoscope: it receives the calculated data for the day and the sign (Moon sign and house, key aspects, retrogrades, events and their times) and follows strict writing rules:

  • only the transits and dates provided by our ephemerides may be mentioned, never an invented aspect or date;
  • every astrological statement must be tied to a real planetary factor of the day;
  • advice stays practical, balanced and non-fatalistic: astrology describes tendencies, it does not decide for you.

4. Editorial review

The Horoscope-US Editorial team defines the writing rules, checks the astrological data the texts are built on, and reviews published horoscopes several times a week for accuracy, clarity and tone. When an error is spotted (a wrong date, a misplaced transit, a confusing sentence), the text is corrected and the rules are improved so the same mistake does not happen again. Readers can report a problem too: your feedback is part of the process.

5. Check the sky yourself

Most daily horoscopes come with a “sky today” box showing the same facts the text is based on: the Moon’s sign and phase, the key aspect of the day, the planets in retrograde and the house each one activates for your sign. You do not have to take our word for it: compare the text with the box, or with any astronomy app.

The same ephemerides are used for our yearly forecasts, such as the Horoscope 2027 pages, and for the downloadable calendars of eclipses, retrogrades and major aspects.

6. What our horoscopes are, and what they are not

Our horoscopes are written for entertainment and personal reflection. They are not a substitute for professional advice in medical, legal, financial or psychological matters. Sun-sign horoscopes describe general trends shared by everyone born under the same sign; for a fully personal reading, a birth chart interpreted by a professional astrologer remains the reference.

Frequently asked questions

Are your horoscopes written by AI?

They are drafted with AI assistance from our own calculated planetary data, following rules written by our editorial team, which also reviews published horoscopes several times a week. The astrological facts always come from the ephemerides, not from the AI.

Which zodiac do you use?

The tropical zodiac, the standard system of Western astrology.

Why does my horoscope mention a “house”?

We use solar houses counted from your sign. The house shows which area of your life a planet activates for you that day.

What time zone are the times in?

Eastern Time (ET). If you live in another time zone, convert the time accordingly; the event itself happens at the same instant everywhere.
